Moz changed Domain Authority (DA) Algorithm and brings DA 2.0.

March 07 17:21 2019

On March 5th, 2019, Moz changed its algorithm that calculated the DA metric.

DA (Domain Authority) is one of the most popular metrics that digital marketers use to measure the SEO progress.

This is the first time in the last 13 years that the company decided to bring a major change in the algorithm.

Last year we saw a change in Ahrefs algorithm (another popular SEO tool company).

As mentioned on the MOZ blog “These fundamental improvements to Domain Authority will deliver a better, more trustworthy metric than ever before. We can remove spam, improve correlations, and, most importantly, update Domain Authority relative to all the changes that Google makes.”

Moz also clearly mentions on their blog that DA is a relative metric and does not have a direct impact on the rankings. In a vacuum DA has no significance, it’s only when we compare 2 sites, DA score plays a big role.

According to Manish Tahiliani, CEO of Voxturr (a Growth Hacking Agency), “After the 5th March update, all of our client’s have seen a change in the DA score. Apparently, we haven’t seen changes in traffic or rankings on search engines. Many people have questions in their mind regarding the update. We have created a blog post on our website that has faqs on DA 2.0, this will help people understand the situation better.”

The DA 2.0 will remain a topic for discussion for a long time now and we all should wait to see the impact on the digital industry.
